Do YOU Dare To Dream?

Dare to dream!

I seem to remember these words in Somewhere Over The Rainbow - 'the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true'.

The statement almost implies that some (maybe most) are too scared to dream... perhaps because they have to get off their behinds and take responsibility for making something happen in their lives.. ;-)

'Dare' implies going where others fear to tread.. taking risks (perhaps of failure, criticism and rejection).

The business world, for instance, regularly sees the 'few' who dare rising to the top and confounding their critics.

This neat piece: Dare To Dream - create an "impossible" goal - and discover the possibilities - in Entrepreneur.com raised 4 key points that can be applied to both business and YOUR life dreams:
1. Choose your "mission impossible.

2. Define your project's outcome by what you want to learn, not by financial results.

3. Make true progress on a regular basis.

4. Track what you learn and don't look back.

I particularly like this quote from point 4:
You won't achieve your impossible goal in one giant leap. In fact, you may find yourself taking two steps forward and one step back. Rather than fearing what may happen, embrace any setbacks you encounter and consider them learning opportunities. Use your imagination to find ways to turn each new development into a growth strategy for your business.

  2. Great advice. It reminds me of Tom Peter's WOW! Project lifestyle.

To explain, sometimes its hard to define the goal I want to reach in concrete terms (like Entreprenuer.com's financial results), all you see is a result or feel a feeling. It's like when I knew I wanted our company to be into ecommerce.

By finding a "mission impossible", an opportunity, or WOW! project, it helps bring life to the goal, and I learn on the job so to speak, all the while further defining the goal and getting closer to the HD dream!

We're often afraid of starting or stepping out, but when we embrace it all as a journey where the quicker you LEARN, and pick yourself up, the quicker you can arrive, it takes the edge off. I don't love to fail but i can stand it, when learning is involved.
